Academic or Professional Certification

Professional certification is not a substitute for accredited degree education, but instead is a complement to an individual’s education or professional experience in the field. The certificate validates an individual’s continuing life-long learning and career development. Once you've earned a certification, you are granted a designation that you can use to distinguish yourself from uncertified peers. To keep your certification, the managing organization will ask for proof that you've obtained the required continuing education periodically (typically one to five years, depending on the certification) before you are allowed to renew your certification.
